The certification body is a registered certification body recognized by Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communication (MIC) within the scope of designated radio equipment. TELEC (Telecom Engineering Center) is the main registered certification body for radio equipment conformity certification in Japan.
Regulations:
- Manufacturers must seek an Independent MIC RCAB to certify conformity and obtain the MIC mark.
- Terminal equipment is divided into 2 categories - Terminal equipment for the purpose of calls and other terminal equipment.
- Radio equipment is divided into 3 categories according to legal effects: Unlicensed station, licensed station (blanket license) and licensed station (subject to simplified licensing procedure or registration).
Telecom & Wireless approval procedure:
Required documents of TELEC certification: are suggested to be Japanese documents, and English documents can also be accepted. The test report can be in the language used by the local testing agency. TELEC certification of WLAN and Bluetooth products.

TELEC/MIC mark's target products:
1) SRE and SSRE:
Bluetooth, Wifi, LTE, GSM, ZigBee, Wireless mics, RFID (2.4 GHz, 920 MHz), Telemeters, UWB radio systems
2) High Frequency Devices:
IH cooking devices, Microwaves, Electrode-less dischagre lamps, Welders, RFID (13.56 MHz), Ultrasonic devices, Other equipment over 10 kHz (including industrial and medical devices)
3) Extremely Low Power Devices:
< 500 µV/m for products operating under 322 MHz or over 150 GHz,
< 35 µV/m for 322 MHz – 10 GHz,
< 3.5x μV/m, where x is frequency in GHz (or 500 µV/m, whichever is lower) for 10 GHz – 150 GHz
