[Argentina] 6E Wifi Band Allocation

On May 22, 2023, ENACOM issued Resolution 756/2023 allocating the 6 GHz band for WiFi. Here is a summary:

- The allocated band belongs to the frequency 5925-7125 MHz.

- The band is only used indoors for personal purposes and to provide ICT services.

- Devices using this band are allowed to be approved in the future.

- Maximum capacity:

a. Access point or slave device: EIRP of 30 dBm and EIRP spectrum density of 5 dBm/MHz

b. Client device: EIRP 24 dBm and EIRP spectrum density -1 dBm/MHz

Devices using this band are not intended for use in any vehicle (cars, trains, ships and aircraft). However, use is only allowed if the aircraft is flying above 10,000 feet.

 

[Argentina] Updated RAMATEL label requirements

Argentina ENACOM updated Resolution No. 661 on RAMATEL label requirements on May 10, 2023. Its contents are as follows:

- Labels must be at least 4mm in size.

- If the label cannot be marked directly on the product due to manufacturing process, size, packaging, etc., the label must be marked on the user manual, quick start guide or packaging respectively.

- If an approved device is installed inside the vehicle and the device's label is not visible, the device must be indicated in the manuals and documentation supplied with the vehicle or posted on the official website of the vehicle manufacturer or importer.

- If electronic labels are used, the method of accessing the electronic labels should be available in the user manual, the quick start guide (or other documentation that came with the device), the packaging, and the official website of the manufacturer or importer.

Other items like general format, size, font, color, also apply to modules unchanged.

 

[EAEU] Customs Union - Recent Changes

In 2023, the CU (Customs Union) informed Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Russia some important changes. The following content:

* Change HS code:

- List of HS codes (CU TR 004/2011, CU TR 020/2011):

a. The list of products attached to the customs declaration when submitting the conformity assessment (EAEU HS code list) has been changed.

b. The changes include a more detailed description of the product group (EAEU HS code), the requirement for the submission of a customs declaration along with the submission of a conformity assessment (certificate, declaration).

c. This change optimizes the EAEU HS code for recent changes (December 11, 2022) to product listings TRU 004/2011 and TRU 020/2011.

The above notice is effective as of April 16, 2023.

Here are specific examples of the changes:

- The list of products under CU TR 004/2011 has been expanded to include the following new products: electric motors, transformers, switchgear, control equipment

- The product portfolio in CU TR 020/2011 has been expanded to include the following new products: personal computers, laptops, tablets and smartphones.

- Changes to EAC CoC and EAC DoC forms:

a. Changed to include QR codes in forms.

b. The form must contain information about the Factory Inspection Report.

c. The form must contain information about the date of manufacture of the product contained in the certificate or statement.

 d. The form must include information about the manufacturer's local representative.

 đ. These changes will go into effect on May 6, 2023.

- Changes to the EAEU Unified Register of CoC and DoC: In the future, information that has not yet been submitted to the EEC may be included in the registry, including:

a. Global Location Number (GLN)

b. GTIN (Global Trade Item Number)

c. For samples imported into the EAEU for the purpose of conformity assessment (testing), the registration number of the customs declaration or other documents prepared at the time of customs clearance or relevant information to the selection or import of templates

d. Information showing how often and when to conduct periodic audits

đ. The information on the application form shows information about the registrant, registration date, product name, product (type) group, manufacturer, etc.

f. These changes will go into effect on May 6, 2023.

 

[Russia] EEC updates list of obligations for TR CU 004/2011 on safety of low voltage equipment

The Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) issued Resolution 29 on 14 March 2023. This updated the list of EAC CoC Program obligations under TRU 004/2011 regarding Safety of Equipment Low voltage, effective April 14, 2023. Here are the highlights:

- Products added to the EAC CoC mandatory list: automatic controls for whirlpool tubs, manicure and pedicure equipment, snow blowers, home appliances, remote controls and control panels , remote controll.

- The product is excluded from the EAC CoC Mandatory List: Hand and Hand Tools.

 

[South Africa] ICASA announces amendments to radio frequency allocation

ICASA has published an important update to the “Radio Frequency Spectrum Regulations (2015)”, one of the main instrument under the South African radio equipment regulation framework, in the Gazette Notice 737 for 2021.

The Short Range Device (SRD) List includes the following important elements:

- Touch applications up to 5000kHz

- ULP-WMCE

- UHF wireless microphone

- DECT system (except for phones)

- UWB and radio navigation applications

- Intelligent traffic system

- TTT and car radar up to 81 GHz

In this document you will find the required type approval requirements for the aforementioned devices, regardless of their unlicensed frequency status, as well as the conditions and criteria for use in each frequency band.

 

[Tanzania] Imported electronic equipment inspection requirements

On March 30, 2023, the Tanzania Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TCRA) issued the following:

1. Individuals and companies wishing to import telecommunications equipment into Tanzania must inspect the equipment to ensure that the equipment is not expired.

2. End-of-life equipment will be subject to an e-waste management fee to cover equipment maintenance costs.

This regulation will take effect on May 23, 2023.

 

[Ukraine] Directive requirements for TR RED UA

According to TR RED, adopted by Resolution No. 355 of the Council of Ministers of Ukraine of 24 May 2017, radio equipment must be provided with instructions for use in Ukrainian. Manufacturers must ensure that safety guidelines are applied to their wireless equipment. Information necessary to use the radio equipment for its intended use should be included in the instructions for use. If the radio equipment emits radio waves, the following information shall be included in the instructions for use:

- the frequency bands in which the radio equipment operates;

– the maximum radio frequency power transmitted in the band in which the radio equipment operates;

 

[US] FCC adopts new rules for short-range radar in the 60 GHz band

On May 18, 2023, the United States Federal Communications Commission (FCC) adopted new, more flexible rules regarding short-range radar technology operating in the 57-71 GHz (60 GHz) band. ). Devices that use short-range radar technology include radars used in "hot-car" sensors, medical monitoring devices, and drones used in built environments, emergency rescues level and trade.
