LED Performance Testing

What is LED Performance Testing?

To ensure products are trusted in the global market, luminaire performance testing is testing requirements for specific performance based on standards or specifications. Used to test the functionality, usability, durability and electrical performance of products to be measured, compared and evaluated.

Main standards in LED performance testing: TCVN 10885-2-1/IEC 62776-2-1, TCVN 8783 (Self-ballasted LED lamp), TCVN 11843/CIE S 025 (LED lamps, luminaires and modules)

1. TCVN 10885-2-1:2015/IEC 62722-2-1:2014

This standard specifies performance requirements for LED luminaires. Test methods and conditions, necessary to demonstrate compliance with this International Standard.

Luminaires are designed to install one or more LED light sources.

  • Falimy of LEDs
  • Ambient performance temperature rating
  • Rated average useful life (of an LED luminaire)
  • Luminous efficiency of LEDs
  • The ratio of the luminous flux emitted to the power consumed by the LED luminaire.

Test conditions:

  • The luminaire uses an LED module that complies with IEC 62717 (Class A).
  • Luminaires using LED modules that do not comply with IEC 5277 (Class B).

The manufacturer shall carry out the test at 25% of the rated life but not exceeding 6000 h.

2. TCVN 8783/IEC 62612:2013

Self-ballasted LEDs for general lighting services with supply voltages > 50 V - Performance requirements.
This standard specifies the performance requirements, together with the test methods and conditions necessary to demonstrate compliance with LED lamps with built-in means of stable operation, designed for household lighting and similar general lighting purposes.

Rated power up to 60W.
Rated voltage is more than 50V to 250V AC.
Lamp head according to IEC 62560 standard.

3. TCVN 11843:2017/CIE S 025:2015

Objects (products): AC or DC LEDs, LEDs, LED modules, can be connected to LED drivers.

NOT included: LED packaging, OLED…

Photometric quantities to be measured:

  • Luminous Level
  • Luminous flux
  • Luminance and luminance distribution
  • Brightness
  • CCT
  • CRI
  • Lighting efficiency
  • etc.....
